The brief was to design an area for sitting and include space for a large gas-fired barbecue. As the garden was small and north facing, design details were important.
A new fence was built in a light wood and topped with a diamond trellis, which matched the diamond radiator grills in the conservatory.
The back wall was rendered and painted in a light colour to reflect the light as it casts shadows on the wall.
Built-in seating also provided the opportunity to create a raised planting bed that efficiently catches the precious sunlight.
The planting was specifically chosen to provide scent and flowers of white or cream.
New paving was laid and a corner space created to accommodate the large barbecue.
