The planting design within the overall garden layout is inspired by Amsterdam's network of canals.

Regimented rows of pleached limes, underplanted by rosemary and alliums, provide the structure.

A long, wide border on the south side of the garden gave the opportunity to provide contrast with an exuberant planting of waving grasses and hot coloured perennials in red, orange and scarlet.

The garden was designed by the owner/architect and Karina Batstone.
